Our field trip program is geared towards elementary school, middle school, and high school students and will take place at McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, CA (KCRQ) and Gillespie Field in El Cajon, CA (KSEE).
STEM Aviation Academy targets its field trip program at the surrounding schools that are located within 1-2 hours drive to one of these two airports.
We recognize that there may be schools who cannot afford to take a class trip to KCRQ or KSEE, and as such, we will subsidize some of the field trips based on need.
The students will have an in-depth guided tour of KCRQ or KSEE Airports, which will last half of the day.
The tour will cover various areas of the airport, such as Fixed Based Operators (FBO), hangars containing various types of aircraft, flight schools, flying clubs, and maintenance facilities.
Students will have the opportunity to learn about the different roles and functions within the aviation industry, and meet professionals such as pilots, mechanics, air traffic controllers, and airport management personnel.
Students will also be able to engage in full-motion flight simulator sessions during the field trip, which will last approximately 15 minutes per person.

Familiarization Flight
For juniors and seniors committed to a career in aviation, STEM Aviation Academy provides familiarization flights in a Cessna 172 aircraft and/or Cirrus SR20 aircraft. These flights are approximately 20 minutes per person.
Every student’s dream. A real take-off, tour flight and landing in one of our general aviation aircraft.
